100% Nebbiolo (locally called Spanna). The Riserva is made from a strict selection of grapes and aged longer than the standard Gattinara. Travaglini Riserva usually spends around 3 years in Slavonian oak casks plus additional time in bottle.Vintage 2017: A hot and dry growing season in Piedmont. In Gattinara, this produced structured Nebbiolos with ripe tannins, generous fruit, and slightly lower acidity compared to cooler years, yet still with the trademark freshness of the northern terroir.Characteristics:Appearance: Deep garnet with ruby reflections.Nose: Ripe cherry, raspberry, dried rose, violet, with notes of spice, tobacco, leather, and a touch of balsamic.Palate: Firm but refined tannins, medium+ acidity, full body, layers of red fruit, minerality, and a long, elegant finish.Ageing potential: 2017 Riserva is approachable now with decanting, but will improve and develop complexity over the next 10–15 years.Food pairing: Excellent with braised beef, roasted lamb, venison, truffle-based dishes, and aged cheeses.
