This wine is produced under the Casalforte label by Cantine Riondo in Veneto. It is made from Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella grapes, which are partially dried through the traditional appassimento method before fermentation.
After fermentation, the wine is aged for a minimum of 24 months in oak barrels, giving it structure, depth, and complexity. Alcohol content is around 15%.
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby red color. The nose offers aromas of ripe cherries, plums, and dried fruits, combined with notes of cinnamon, vanilla, coffee, and a hint of bitter cocoa.
On the palate, it is full-bodied and velvety, with soft tannins, balanced warmth, and a long, elegant finish. The Riserva style gives it extra refinement and ageing potential.
It pairs beautifully with game, braised red meats, aged cheeses, and rich pasta dishes. Best served at 16–18 °C, and benefits from decanting before serving.
This 2016 vintage can be enjoyed now but will continue to evolve gracefully for several more years.
Grape Varieties: Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella.
