The history of the Caffo family business dates back to the end of the 19th century, when Giuseppe Caffo, Master Distiller, began distilling pomace on the side of volcanic Mount Etna. After purchasing an old distillery in Santa Venarina in Sicily, Caffo gradually expanded from spirits, alcohol and derivatives from wine production to local liqueurs obtained from ancient recipes, the result of patient and painstaking research and re-working. Moving to a large plant in Limbadi in Calabria, the Fratelli Caffo-Distillerie company has gone from strength to strength ever since. At its helm today are Giuseppe Giovanni Caffo and his son Sebastiano Giovanni, who have succeeded in combining experience and innovation, continuing the family’s longstanding excellence in distillation and with a focus on tradition and local, ancient techniques and recipes.
