The Baladin Brewery began as a pub which opened in 1986 in Cuneo, at the foot of the mountains in Piemonte in northeastern Italy. It catered for the growing interest in beer in Italy and by 1996, the founder Teo Musso, was brewing his own beer out the back of the pub. Widely viewed as one of the pioneers of Italian craft beer (which is sadly undervalued internationally), he has constantly strove to create outstanding beers in a land traditionally associated with wine. The brewery has continued to expand and innovate since then with a strong focus on sustainability, investing in solar energy for the brewery, sustainable land use and the Slow Food Foundation for Biodiversity. Its innovation in the world of beer has led to the creation of a wide selection of award-winning beers and Barley wines, Italy’s first 100% Italian beer and the ‘open source beers’ project, where the brewery collaborates and shares recipes with homebrewers in a bid to discover and develop new recipes and promote home and craft brewing.
